WEDNESDAY HIKE DIRECTIONS


All hikes start from one of four locations: hikes to the South will meet at The Sams Club parking lot on Hwy 192 in Melbourne near I-95;Hikes to the West meet at Lone Cabbage Fish Camp parking lot (also James Bourbeau Park) on Hwy 520 by the St. Johns River; hikes to theNorth meet at the new Sam's Club parking lot on Townsend St. just off Hwy 520 in Cocoa near I-95 or the Lowe's parking lot at I-95 and Hwy 50 in Titusville.

WEDNESDAY HIKE DIRECTIONS, NORTH TRAILS
North trails are those North of Hwy 520 in Brevard County, Florida. Most Hikes to the North meet at the Lowe's parking lot on Hwy 50 in Titusville near I-95. at 8:30 AM. Four of these trails; Ulumay, Viera Wetlands, Moccasin Island, and Cruickshank Sanctuary, will meet at the new Sam's Club parking lot on Townsend St. just east of I-95 and Hwy 520 in Cocoa at 8:30 AM.

DIRECTIONS TO BULOW CREEK TRAIL N1
From Lowe's Parking lot at Hwy 50 and I-95, take I-95 north to the Old Dixie Highway Exit (exit 278, one exit past the US-1 exit.) Take Old Dixie Highway south (right) about two miles to Bulow Creek State Park / Fairchild Oaks parking lot. We park there but take a few cars to the trail end at the Bulow Plantation Ruins State Historic Site to use to shuttle back to the starting point at Fairchild Oaks. To get to the Historic site, backtrack on Old Dixie Highway to the intersection with Hwy 2001. Turn right on 2001 and drive about two miles to the Historic site entrance road, the trail crossing is about a mile down the road on the right. The trail is about seven miles long one way. DIRECTIONS TO ST. FRANCIS TRAIL N2
From Lowe's Parking lot at Hwy 50 and I-95 take I-95 north to the Deland/New Smyrna Beach exit (Hwy 44.) Take Hwy 44 west through the town of Deland to the St. Johns River. Immediately after crossing the river, take Hwy 42 north a few hundred feet to the road marked River Forest Group Campground. Turn right on that road, proceed another few feet to a road marked "St. Francis Trail parking." Follow arrow to parking lot. The trail is about three miles to the St. Johns River on one leg and four miles on the other. We can do the complete trip of seven miles or return on the three mile leg for a six mile hike. DIRECTIONS TO BLUE SPRINGS TRAIL N3
From Lowe's Parking lot at Hwy 50 and I-95, take I-95 north to the hwy 46 exit. Take hwy 46 to Sanford, turn right on hwy 17 - 92 in downtown Sanford. Proceed north on 17 - 92 to the town of Orange City (about twelve miles.) Turn left at the Blue Springs State Park sign in Orange City and drive about three miles to the park. Park at the end of the road in the parking area. The trail is on the left (south) and is about three and a half miles to the river, you return on the same trail for a total of seven miles. DIRECTIONS TO THE LAKE BERESFORD TRAIL N3
From Lowe's Parking lot at Hwy 50 and I-95, take I-95 north to the hwy 46 exit. Take hwy 46 to Sanford, turn right on hwy 17 - 92 in downtown Sanford. Proceed north on 17 - 92 to the town of Orange City (about twelve miles.) Turn left on McGregor Rd. (Orange Camp Rd. on other side of 17-92) and drive about two miles to Fatio Rd. Follow Fatio about half a mile to park

DIRECTIONS TO THE PINE ISLAND TRAIL N4
From Lowe's Parking lot at hwy 50 and I-95, take 50 East a short distance to the Hwy 405 intersection. Take 405 East to the Kennedy Space Center bypass and take the bypass to State Road 3. (Courtney Parkway.) Take SR 3 South about two miles to Pine Island Road (look for the sign on the right side of SR 3, the road on the left side has another name, Judson Road) Take Pine Island Road about three miles to the Pine Island Conservation Area entrance. Park just inside the gate and the trail starts down the road toward the Power Plant. Total distance is about four miles. DIRECTIONS TO THE FOX LAKE TRAIL, N5

From Lowe's Parking lot at Hwy 50 and I-95, Depart from the south entrance onto Hwy 50, make a U-turn and head east on Hwy. 50 a short way to South Street, (Hwy 405), take South Street north, (turn left), two miles to Fox Lake Road. Turn left on Fox Lake Road and drive over I-95 to the end in the park. Park just west of the boat ramp. The trail starts just past the ramp, look for the kiosk, and it's a five mile loop through a variety of systems.

DIRECTIONS TO THE SAMS HOUSE TO PINE ISLAND TRAIL. N4

From Sam's Club parking lot at Hwy 520 and I-95, take Hwy 520 East through Merritt Island to SR-3, turn left on SR-3 and drive about 8 miles to North Tropical Trail, (look for a sign saying 'Sams House Nature Center' on the left a bit off the road) turn left on North Tropical Trail for a short distance and look for a large white sign at the Sams House driveway. Turn right into the area and park in the designated parking area.

DIRECTIONS FOR THE MERRITT ISLAND PIONEER TRAIL,N4


From Lowe's Parking lot at hwy 50 and I-95, take 50 East a short distance to the Hwy 405 intersection. Take 405 East to the Kennedy Space Center bypass and take the bypass to State Road 3. (Courtney Parkway.) Take SR 3 South about three miles to Chase Hammock Road. Turn left on Chase Hammock and drive about a mile to King's Park on the right. The trail is a paved hiking, biking and skateboarding trail through wooded areas surrounded by canals and ponds. A short boardwalk crosses a wet area. It is about 1.5 miles one way making it a three mile hike.

DIRECTIONS TO THE ENCHANTED FOREST TRAILS N5
From Lowe's Parking lot at Hwy 50 and I-95, take 50 East a short distance to the Hwy 405 intersection. Take 405 East about two miles to the Enchanted Forest entrance on the left. DIRECTIONS TO LAKE PROCTOR WILDERNESS TRAIL N6
From Lowe's Parking lot at hwy 50 and I-95, take I-95 north to The Sanford / Mims exit. (Hwy 46) Take hwy 46 west about fifteen miles to the Lake Proctor Trail entrance. (look for sign on right after passing large power lines crossing highway). There are several variations to the trail, get a map at the kiosk. DIRECTIONS TO THE FLAGLER TRAIL N7
From Lowe's Parking lot at hwy 50 and I-95, take I-95 north to The Sanford / Mims exit. (Hwy 46) Take hwy 46 west about seventeen miles to the town of Geneva. Turn right at First Street (at traffic light, the continuation of First Street South is Snowhill Road) Take First a few blocks to Avenue C. Turn left on Avenue C and proceed a couple blocks to Old Geneva Road. Turn right on Old Geneva and follow it to Osceola Road in about a mile. Turn right on Osceola Road (marked East Osceola Road) for about six miles to Fish Camp Road. The trailhead is a few feet into Fish Camp Road, look for parking lot and "King Phillipstown" historical marker. The trail leaves the parking lot along Fish Camp Road and follows Osceola Road for several miles until it terminates in the town of Geneva. DIRECTIONS TO CANAVERAL MARSHES TRAIL N8
From Lowe's Parking lot at hwy 50 and I-95, go west on 50 about three miles to a road on the South (left) side of the highway with a white Canaveral Marshes Conservation Area sign. There is a gate about 100 yds in with a kiosk, the trail terminus is on the left. The trail is about two miles along a dike to the Addison Canal, about a mile along the canal, and a four mile loop through a wooded area. for more info, goto http://www.outintheboonies.com/

DIRECTIONS TO THE MERRITT ISLAND WILDLIFE PRESERVE TRAILS N9
From Lowe's Parking lot at Hwy 50 and I-95, take I-95 North to the hwy 406 exit (Garden St.) at Titusville. Take 406 East past hwy US 1 and across the Indian River. About two miles past the Coast Guard Station just across the Indian River Bridge, the road separates. Take the right fork (hwy 402) about three miles to the Oak Hammock Trail on the North side of the road. (You pass a visitors center just before the trailhead, stop in for more information.) Go back to the intersection of hwys 406 and 402 and take 406 for about a mile and turn on the Black Point Wildlife Drive. About a mile later, at stop 4, find the Wild Birds Unlimited Trail. In another two miles, find the parking lot for the Cruickshank Trail. Again, from the intersection of hwys 406 and 402, take 406 about six miles to State Road 3. Turn left on SR 3 and drive about a mile and a half. Look for a sign saying "public access" on the left side of the road next to a dirt road. If you get to a building marked "Bio Lab" on the right side of the road, you have gone too far. There is a small parking lot inside leading to an unnamed dike trail. Just before the building on the right side of the road is another trail named the Scrub Ridge Trail. The last one is several miles further, North of Haulover Canal. Look for a Pine Flatwoods Trail sign. The Cruickshank Trail is five miles long as is the unnamed dike trail. The others are about half a mile to two miles each. See also the Shiloh Marsh Trail below. DIRECTIONS TO THE SHILOH MARSH TRAIL, N10
From Lowe's Parking lot at Hwy 50 and I-95, take I-95 North to the Hwy 5-A exit. Take 5-A to US Hwy 1 and turn left (north) and drive about 4.5 miles to SR-3 (Kennedy Boundary Parkway). Turn right on SR-3 about 4.1 miles to Shiloh 3 road on the right. There are a couple of parking areas on the east side of SR-3 just before and just after Shiloh 3 road to choose. After parking, hike on Shiloh 3 Road to a gate at the intersection with Shiloh Marsh Road. Turn left on Shiloh Marsh Road and hike to the next intersection. Take the intersecting road (Weathertower Road), In about a mile, you hit SR-3 again. Look for Weathertower Road sign, hike SR-3 north (left turn) back to Shiloh 3 Road to complete 4.25 mile hike.

DIRECTIONS TO BLUE HERON WETLANDS PARK N11
From Lowe's Parking lot at hwy 50 and I-95, drive about half a mile West on 50 to the Blue Heron Water Treatment Plant, turn in and after a short drive stop at the first building and sign in. DIRECTIONS TO THE DORIS LEEPER SPRUCE CREEK BLUFFS TRAIL N12
From Lowe's Parking lot at Hwy 50 and I-95, take I-95 North to the New Smyrna Beach/ Deland exit (Hwy 44). Take Hwy 44 East about half a mile to Sugar Mill Drive. Turn left (North) on Sugar Mill and drive about a mile and a half to Pioneer Trail. Turn left (West) on Pioneer Trail or about a mile to Turnbull Bay Road. Take Turnbull a short way to Martins Dairy Road. Turn left on Martins Dairy and drive to end of road about a mile) The trailhead is on the West side of the parking lot where there is a large kiosk with trail maps and info. The main blue marked trail is six and a half miles around but there are many bailouts which can be used to shorten the loop. DIRECTIONS TO THE LAKE WOODRUFF WILDERNESS TRAILS N14
From Lowe's Parking lot at Hwy 50 and I-95, take I-95 North to the New Smyrna Beach/ Deland exit (Hwy 44). Take Hwy 44 West through Deland to Hwy 4053 (the street signs say Glenwood Road and Grand Av.). Turn right on Hwy 4053 and proceed about seven miles to the Lake Woodruff sign and turn left. The parking lot is across the railroad tracks at the end of the road. DIRECTIONS TO ULUMAY PRESERVE TRAIL N15
From Sam's Club parking lot at Hwy 520 and I-95, take Hwy 520 East through Merritt Island to Sykes Creek Parkway across Hwy 520 from Merritt Square Mall. Take Sykes Creek Parkway North across the Sykes Creek Bridge, turn left almost immediately across the bridge into the Ulumay Preserve. Park by the first entrance into the preserve, the trail is along Sykes Creek heading North and is about 3.5 miles one way.for more info, goto http://www.brevardparks.com/historic/hist_ulumay.php

DIRECTIONS TO BUCK LAKE TRAILS N16
From Lowe's Parking lot at Hwy 50 and I-95, take I-95 North to the Hwy 46 exit (Mims / Sanford exit). Take 46 West about one mile to the Buck Lake Conservation Area entrance. Drive North a few hundred feet to the parking lot by the gate. The trail starts on the entrance road and shortly crosses a canal. Across the canal, there is a yellow blazed trail which is 1.2 miles long. A white blazed trail continues on the road making an 8.4 mile loop. There is a red blazed trail starting at the West Entrance which is about five miles west on Hwy 46 from the East entrance. It forms an 8.6 mile loop. The red and white trails intersect to form a 7.6 mile one way hike from the East to West trailheads.A third trail starts off of Hyw 46 about 10 miles from I-95. It is a 1.5 mile road trail ending at one of the St. John's river braids. The trailhead is just off of Hwy 46 on the East side of Morgan Alderman Road. DIRECTIONS TO KRATZERT CONSERVATION AREA TRAILS N17
From Lowe's Parking lot at Hwy 50 and I-95, take I-95 North to the Hwy 46 exit (Mims / Sanford exit). Take 46 West about twenty miles to Hwy 415 at Midway. Take Hwy 415 North across the St. Johns River Bridge. Turn left on Reed Ellis Road about a hundred yards and park in the Kratzert Conservation Area Parking lot. The trails consist of a two mile loop to the North and a short trail West to the river.

DIRECTIONS TO LAKE MONROE / BRICKYARD SLOUGH AREA N18
From Lowe's Parking lot at Hwy 50 and I-95, take I-95 North to the Hwy 46 exit (Mims / Sanford exit). Take 46 West about twenty miles to Hwy 415 at Midway. Take Hwy 415 North across the St. Johns River Bridge about a half mile to the Lake Monroe / Brickyard Slough parking area. There are two trails on the property, a red blazed trail of about four and a half miles mostly through pasture but also a couple of oak hammocks and a walk along the St. Johns River marsh. The yellow blazed trail is about six miles through similar ecosystems. Both could be wet in the rainy season. Good birding and wildflowers.for more info, goto http://www.outintheboonies.com/

DIRECTIONS TO ROCK SPRINGS RUN STATE RESERVE N19
From Lowe's Parking lot at Hwy 50 and I-95, take I-95 North to the Hwy 46 exit (Mims / Sanford exit). Take 46 West through Sanford and across the Wekiva River. About 2.5 miles past the river, turn left on Hwy 433. Drive in about a half mile to the entrance kiosk and obtain a trail map. There are several trails in the area ranging from short to very long. DIRECTIONS TO THE VIERA WETLANDS TRAILS N20
From Sam's Club Parking lot at Hwy 520 and I-95, Take I-95 South to the Viera exit (Hwy 509 or Wickham Road) drive in straight about two miles to the Waste Management buildings. The trails are a few hundred feet ahead on dikes around ponds. There are several routes to take varying from a mile or so to several miles. DIRECTIONS TO THE MOCCASIN ISLAND TRAIL N21
From Sam's Club Parking lot at Hwy 520 and I-95, Take I-95 South to the Viera exit (Hwy 509 or Wickham Road) drive in straight about two miles toward the Waste Management buildings. Just before entering the Waste Management area, take the gravel road on the right, cross the canal, and turn left passing in front of the Duda office building. Continue another three or four miles until the road ends at the River Lakes Conservation Area. The trail runs along the dikes in both directions ending at a forested loop on the South leg and an observation platform on the North loop. DIRECTIONS TO LAKE ASHBY TRAILS N22
From Lowe's Parking lot at Hwy 50 and I-95, take I-95 North to the Sanford exit (Hwy 46). Take Hwy 46 about twenty five miles to the Hwy 415 intersection. Take Hwy 415 north about fifteen miles to Lake Ashby road. Follow Lake Ashby road to Boy Scout Camp road and turn left. Follow Boy Scout Camp road to the Lake Ashby County Park entrance, turn right into the park. There are two trails, one is a two mile mostly boardwalk trail and the other is a short forest trail.for more info, goto http://volusia.org/parks/ashbypark.htm

DIRECTIONS TO THE LAKE JESSUP TRAIL N23
From Lowe's Parking lot at Hwy 50 and I-95, take I-95 North to the Sanford exit (Hwy 46). Take Hwy 46 about thirty miles to Sanford Avenue in Sanford. Take Sanford Avenue South to Lake Jessup County Park. Be careful around Lake Mary Boulevard, its easy to get off track. DIRECTIONS TO THE EEL'S SOUTH LAKE SANCTUARY TRAIL N24
From Lowe's Parking lot at Hwy 50 and I-95, take I-95 North 4.5 mi. to the Garden St. exit (hwy 406), take Garden St. West (left turn) to Carpenter St. Take Carpenter north about 1.5 miles to Dairy Road. Turn left on Dairy about a mile to Lancaster St. Turn right into the South Lake Sanctuary parking lot. There are a couple miles of marked trails and road walks through mostly scrub habitat.

DIRECTIONS TO THE EEL'S SCOTTSMOOR SANCTUARY TRAILS N25
From Lowe's Parking lot at Hwy 50 and I-95, take I-95 North to the Hwy 5-A exit. Take 5-A to US Hwy 1 and turn right (South). Drive almost a mile to Magoon St. Take Magoon West (right turn) a short while to the Parrish Park parking lot. Park there and the Scottsmoor Sanctuary surrounds it to the north, west and south. Hike any of several miles of roads in the sanctuary, there are no marked trails at present but the roads take one through several habitats.

DIRECTIONS TO TURNBULL HAMMOCK \ SCOTTSMOOR LANDING N26
From Lowe's Parking lot at Hwy 50 and I-95, take I-95 North to the Hwy 5-A exit. Take 5-A to US Hwy 1 and turn right (South). Drive about a mile south to Huntington Ave. Take Huntington East all the way to the end and find Scottsmoor Landing park. The trail is on the gated dike immediately outside the park sign on the South side of the road. It loops to the West before returning at another gate a few hundred feet further West on the road. It is about two miles long all on dikes surrounded by brackish ponds. Great birding in the Fall.

DIRECTIONS TO THE KABBOORD SANCTUARY TRAIL N27
From Lowe's Parking lot at hwy 50 and I-95, take 50 East a short distance to the Hwy 405 intersection. Take 405 East to the Kennedy Space Center bypass and take the bypass to State Road 3. (Courtney Parkway.) Take SR 3 South about five miles to Hall Road. Take Hall Road East about a mile to a pump house and gate on the right (south) side of the road. The trail starts here and is on a semi-abandoned road which continues through varying stages of overgrowth to the barge canal. There turn left (east) about 2/3 of a mile to a more maintained road which will take you back to Hall Road, the parking area is about a third of a mile west. Total length is about five miles. Good wildflowers and birding in season.

DIRECTIONS TO THE DeLEON SPRINGS TRAIL N28
From Lowe's Parking lot at Hwy 50 and I-95 take I-95 north to the Deland/New Smyrna Beach exit (Hwy 44.) Take Hwy 44 about 17 miles to County Hwy 4101, take 4101 North (turn right) about three miles to Hwy 92, Take 92 West (turn left) about two miles to Hwy 17, take 17 North (turn right) about six miles to the town of DeLeon Springs. Most of the way through town, find a sign on the left side of the road directing you to the DeLeon Springs State Park. There is a 1.5 mile trail going clockwise around the property line starting fron the northwest corner of the lake and a somewhat shorter one going counter clockwise starting at the northeast corner of the lake. The entrance to Chain of Lakes Recreation Area is on the right. There is a series of two or three miles of trail around the lake with an observation tower and several bridges. The trails are open and mostly paved.

TURTLE MOUND TRAIL
About one mile past the park entrance, there is a parking area on the right for the Turtle Mound Trail, it is about a 0.3 mile boardwalk to the top of Turtle Mound, a 35 foot high Native American lookout mound. CASTLE WINDY TRAILAcross from parking area 3 is the Castle Windy Trail. It is about one mile long and accesses coastal scrub and a Native American midden.

ELDORA TRAIL
The ElDora Trail starts at parking area 8 and is about a half mile long ending at a restored house from the Pioneer village of ElDora. Tours of the house are available.

ELDORA HAMMOCK TRAIL
The ElDora Hammock Trail starts at parking area 9 and is a one mile loop through a coastal hammock. All of the trails offer excellent wildlife and wildflower viewing.

The West entrance is about 15 miles from I-95 on the North side of the hwy. There is a five mile loop from the parking lot with a connection to the East trail. These trails are on forest roads through pine uplands but with seasonally wet spots.

DIRECTIONS TO SOLDIER CREEK TRAIL W1
From Lone Cabbage Fish Camp at Hwy 520 and St. Johns River, take hwy 520 West all the way to the junction with Hwy 50. Continue west on 50 through Bithlo to Hwy 419. Turn right on 419, proceed through Oviedo (turn right at traffic light, marked Central Ave; look for Town House Restaurant on corner, there is a bypass now cutting diagonally to hwy 419 which can be used) Continue on 419 (another right turn at Winter Springs) to Soldier Creek baseball fields. The trail heads South along Soldier Creek, crossing the Cross Seminole Multiuse Trail, and ends at Hwy 17-92. After backtracking the above trail, drive to the Spring Hammock trails, at the far side of the field on the right side of the highway, turn right on Osprey Trail. Park in lot on right side of road. The trail starts there and is about four miles long. There are several trails here some of which are wet and some dry. Scenery is outstanding on all of them. There are a couple of boardwalks which pass some magnificent Cypress trees, one ends over Lake Jessup. Usually we proceed to Big Tree Park for lunch after this trail. To get there, continue west on 419 to the intersection with hwy 17 - 92. Follow the path 0.4 miles to a dirt road and another 0.5 miles to the trailhead on Howard Avenue. There is a parking area on Howard Avenue but it is hard to find and often closed. The trail itself starts there and loops 4.5 mile round trip. The blue blazed trail is part pine upland with several wetland areas, there is a long boardwalk across the wettest area. Total length from Barr Street and back is 6.3 miles. Turn right onto Wheeler Road (look for Orlando Wetlands Park sign,) before the turn. Drive about a mile on Wheeler road to the Orlando Wetlands Park parking lot. There are several variations on the trail we can do, all being about five miles in length. World class wildlife, wildflowers and birding. Take Phillips 1.5 miles to the Charles Bronson State Forest parking lot at the end of the road. About five miles of the Florida Trail can be accessed along with a white blazed trail forming a 9+
mile loop. Almost all of the trails are forested but can be very wet in the rainy season.

Continue for about two miles to Wilderness Drive, turn right on Wilderness Drive and park at the end of the road by the Sabal Point Sanctuary gate. The trail is about 3.5 miles long along tram roads. DIRECTIONS TO THE ECON RIVER WILDERNESS TRAIL W10
From Lone Cabbage at Hwy 520 and St. Johns River, take Hwy 520 West all the way to Hwy 434 (Alafaya Trail). Take 434 North about three miles to McColloch Rd. Take McColloch East about a mile and a half to Old Lockwood Rd. Take Old Lockwood a few yards North to the entrance for the area. The trail is about three miles max depending on which side trails you take. Trail is through mostly thinned pine upland but there are some low areas near the Econ River. Hike Directions South

South trails are those that are South of Hwy 520 in Brevard County, Florida. All hikes to the South will meet at The Sams Club parking lot on Hwy 192 in Melbourne near I-95. Hikes start at 8:30.


DIRECTIONS TO PRAIRIE LAKES LOOP TRAIL S1
From Sams Club parking lot on I-95 and hwy 192, drive 20 miles west on 192 to Holopaw. Turn south on hwy 441 about twenty miles to Kenansville. Turn right on hwy 523 (Canoe Creek Road) about ten miles to the entrance of Prairie Lakes Wildlife Management Area. Drive in about two miles to a parking area beside a creek (there is a six dollar fee per car to enter the area.) One trail begins on the west side of the bridge on either side of the road and is a loop of five and a half miles length. Another trail forms a loop on the East side of the bridge and is about six miles in length. These are great trails for wildlife viewing, birding and butterflying. DIRECTIONS TO THE SUNSET RANCH TRAIL S2
From Sams Club parking lot on I-95 and hwy 192, drive 20 miles west on 192 to Holopaw. Turn south on hwy 441 about twenty miles to Kenansville. Turn right on hwy 523 (Canoe Creek Road) about eight miles to the Sunset Ranch Parking area. The trail is about two miles in length traversing a mix of forest and wetland. DIRECTIONS TO THREE LAKES TRAIL S3
From Sams Club parking lot on I-95 and hwy 192, drive west on 192 to Holopaw. Turn south on hwy 441 about thirteen and a half miles to the Three Lakes entrance road (Williams Road.) Drive on Williams Road about three miles to the Florida Trail crossing, This, the North bound section runs through pine forest about four miles to Hwy 414. The South bound section is on Williams Road until it passes under the Florida Turnpike, there it enters pine forest and open prairie for about two and a half miles until it intersects Hwy 523.for more info, goto http://www.outintheboonies.com/

DIRECTIONS TO SPLIT OAK TRAIL S4
From Sams parking lot on hwy 192 and I-95 take 192 west through Holopaw to Hwy 15. Take 15 north about nine miles to Clapp Sims Duda Road. Take Clapp Sims Duda road about a mile and a half to the Split Oak trail parking area on the right side of the road. The trails starts at the kiosk and vary from less than a mile to about four miles depending on trails you take. See map on kiosk. Some trails are sandy and some can be wet. DIRECTIONS TO BULL CREEK CEMETERY TRAIL S5
From Sams Club parking lot on Hwy 192 in Melbourne, proceed west on 192 through the town of Deer Park. About two and a half miles past the Hwy 419 intersection in Deer Park, locate the gated levee road on the south side of the Highway. We park there and walk past the gate and down to the trail marker at the bottom of the levee on the right. Walk about a mile to the campground then follow the blazes across Crabgrass Creek to a road to the cemetery. the total distance is about five miles. There are several other trails in Bull Creek some of which are excellent, some ordinary. About seven and a half miles past the Hwy 419 intersection in Deer Park, find Crabgrass Creek Road. Take Crabgrass Creek Road to its end at the Bull Creek WMA entrance, get a map at the checkstation and ask about which trails are wet or dry. DIRECTIONS TO LAKE ARBUCKLE TRAIL S7
From Sams Discount Club, on hwy 192 near I-95, take I-95 south about forty miles to hwy 60 (Yeehaw Junction exit.) Take hwy 60 about 45 miles (through Yeehaw Junction) to Hwy 630. Take 630 south 9.2 miles to Blue Jordan Forest Road and turn left. Proceed 1.7 miles to Lake Reedy Blvd. and turn left at the traffic light. Drive a short way to Lake Arbuckle Road and turn left. Proceed one and a half miles to Rucks Dairy Road and turn right, drive 0.8 miles and park in lot on left just across a small bridge. One end of the trail starts here. The other end of the trail is accessed by driving north, from the first trailhead , on School Bus Road about three miles (find a fenced parking lot at 2.8 miles and proceed another tenth of a mile or so.) DIRECTIONS TO SOUTH BEACHES TRAILS, S12
From Sams Discount Club in Melbourne at hwy 192 near I-95, take 192 East through Melbourne to hwy A1A. Turn right on A1A and drive south about 14 miles, look for the Barrier Island Sanctuary visitor Center. The Barrier Island trail starts at the visitor center and continues across the highway from Bonsteel Park, It is a 0.5 mile loop to the river around and back to A1A. The second trail is 10.2 miles from the 192 - A1A junction, or 3.8 miles from the Barrier Island Center on the West side of the road and is named Maritime Hammock Trail. It is a 2.5 mile loop ending as before on A1A.  At 6.2 miles from Hwy 192 or 4.1 miles from the Maritime Hammock Trail, the Coconut Point Trail is next, look for a kiosk on the West side of the road at the Coconut Point trailhead across the Highway from the Ponce de Leon Park. The trail is 0.75 miles long and terminates on Hwy A1A. The palmetto scrub visible from the highway quickly gives way to spectacular tropical forest on all three trails. Good everythinging!

DIRECTIONS TO THE DISNEY WILDERNESS PRESERVE TRAIL S15
From Sams Club parking lot on I-95 and hwy 192, drive west on 192 to Kissimmee. Turn left onto Hwy 17-92 (Main Street). Continue through downtown until you meet John Young Parkway (continuation of Hwy 17-92), continue over the overpass about three miles to Pleasant Hill Road. Turn left on Pleasant Hill Road and drive about 8 miles to Old Pleasant Hill Road (there is a Nature Conservancy sign on the right side of Pleasant Hill Road). Drive about a quarter mile and locate a large gate on the left side of Old Pleasant Hill Road marked Nature Conservancy Disney Wilderness Preserve. Drive through the gate and continue to the visitor center and register and pay a two dollar per person fee. There are two trails, a 2.5 mile trail and a five mile trail, get map at visitor center. Park just off Hwy 192 in the campground parking lot. There are seven and a half miles of developed trail and lots of roads to explore. From Sams Club parking lot on I-95 and hwy 192, drive west on 192 through the towns of Deer Park and Holopaw to the entrance to the Harmony Developement (about 31 miles.) Turn right into the developement and follow the signs to the information building to register as a hiker. There are trails that start at both ends of the main East / West road, the trail at the West
end is about two miles in and back ant the two trails on thr East are about three miles in and back. All are through both open and forested terrain.

From Sams Club parking lot on I-95 and hwy 192, drive west on 192 through the towns of Deer Park and Holopaw to Old Melbourne Hwy. (about 35 miles.) Turn right for About a mile on Old Melbourne hwy. and find the parking area for the Lake Lizzie Nature Preserve on the left. The trails start here and are of varying length up to six or more miles. They tend to be very sandy
after the first half mile or so.
